I installed Outlook XP on my work PC. I had Outlook Express installed at that time and I made the mistake of letting it import accounts from Express.
Now my home account is going to my work Outlook. It is "grabbed" by my work server even my my work PC is off. They tell me this will be resolved if I remove Outlook XP and revert to Outlook 2000.
I doubt this is true.
I can't find this account in Outlook as a POP3 account. Does anyone know how to remove this? |

not without seeing it I'm afraid. I assume this is licensed s/w so raise a support call, should be easy enough to sort out :) |

Is your work running an Exchange server? |

It's possible then that the Exchange server is using the POP3Connector to grab your remote mail, you might need to check with your organisations email administrator to confirm that and get them to delete it for you if thats the case. |

redbrad, wrong - off the shelf you get 2 free support calls per product. Many people do not realise this. I've had excellent results with support, even on really tough issues.
OK so how to get you out of this mess - if exchange is grabbing your mail a la pop3, change the account password (so it cannot any more), then set up pop3 mail as a separate account (still within outlook for convenience, just add it to your regular profile, do not create a new profile). This is unrelated to Outlook versions, your helpdesk are dense or lying. |

Thanks guys, but I already tried going to Comcast and changing the password, and if you can believe it, the Exchange server is still getting the Outlook mail! I strongly suspect my IS is a bunch of idiots. Their recommendation was to "deinstall" Outlook XP and reinstall the sanctioned Outlook 2000 and that would fix the problem. |

ummm - I don't get this? How the f is exchange still getting your email if it cannot authenticate against the server? Something doesn't add up here. Is it using POP3? Complain to Comcast, surely this is their security at fault!!!
btw i agree with your suspicions about your IS support :) |
