I haven't seen this as a mod or in a topic. I apologize if I am overlooking anything obvious.

I in specific forums, but not all forums, I want to specify the order of topics within the forum. Like a topic priority.. While Sticky topics will stay at the top, this is too unwieldy for our use.

Any ideas - other than my own custom development.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

In the Administration section go to "Category/Forum Order Configuration". From there you can number the forums in the order you wish them to appear.

There is currently no MOD for that as far as I know.
I'm also not sure how you meant "specify the order of topics"...
do you want it to work like the category/forum order config or do you simply want to change the default order topics are displayed (last post date, descending)?

He is looking for a way to order topics, not forums or categories.

My MODs:
Birthdays - Custom Policy - F.A.Q. Administration - Forum Rules - Guestbook
Links Manager - MyOwnGoogle - Profile Views - Search Log - WebSearch

Useful stuff:
Forum and MOD Installation - MOD Installation Guide - Snitz v3.4.05 Readme - Free ASP Hosts - Support Snitz

OneWayMule,

I am asking about topics within the forums, not the forums themselves.

absea,
I want to order the topics regardless of date, alpha, or anything else. I've thought about manually adding numeric element to the table and ordering based on that.

This is for a specific group where within a forum, the topics need to remain statically ordered.

I'll give that a try.

Matt

Wasn't there a mod a while back that extended the functionality of sticky topics to allow you to specify the order stickies were listed in? * off a-searching *

Ooh!! I think that would work. I'll look around too.

Also, a cludgy answer would be to order topics alphabetically. I could then place a numeric ID in the topic name.

Hmm??

Just angry at myself. I did a search on Google for "snitz, topic, sort" and it led me back to the snitz latest version feature page. Duh!

The newest version has the ability to sort topics by topic name: This makes things pretty simple to do. No mods necessary. I don't know if there is a way to default it to that order but I should be able to find the code to make that possible.

Rather than add a mod or get crazy, however, instructions for my group will work great.

Thank you for your patience..

Can't find the one I was thinking of (if it even exists!), but this might get you started on the right track.
