I find that the forum keeps logging me out and will not 'retain' my login, whether as admin or as a user. Especially a problem when going to admin options and making a change, where it keeps prompting me for my login/password.
Cookies are set to be accepted (in both IE6 and Opera which I use more often). Both browsers suffer this problem.

Seemed to be a problem after the PM mod I put on.

Anything I can check for?

Running Version 3.4.03
PM Mod

Have you tried to search the Help: General / Current Version (v3.4.xx) forum (including the archives), there have been numerous topics about it, and there are numerous thing that can cause this problem.

My MODs:
Birthdays - Custom Policy - F.A.Q. Administration - Forum Rules - Guestbook
Links Manager - MyOwnGoogle - Profile Views - Search Log - WebSearch

Useful stuff:
Forum and MOD Installation - MOD Installation Guide - Snitz v3.4.05 Readme - Free ASP Hosts - Support Snitz

Yes, but as you say, there are many posts on it. I mainly wondered if there were any known issues with PM mod and logging out probs. Should I post elsewhere perhaps?

It may help if I tell you that the worst and most often occurence of the problem is when I:
Login as admin
Go to Admin Options hyperlink
Fill in the Admin Login text boxes
Get the page which acknowledges successful login
Get immediately returned to the Admin Login screen.

This happens often but if I persevere and do nothing other than repeated logins I eventually succeed. Once in the Admin Options area if I make a choice on the page I am once again prompted for the Username and Password.

Could it be a problem with my forum not being in the /forum directory? Cookies are set to Website.

location wont affect it - if you have two forums on one site that may affect it if you're logged into the other at the same time. have you tried logging in on another computer?

Yes there are 2 forums but both on separate databases, one is for experimenting and is in a separate subdirectory with nothing shared. I clear all cookies and then log on to the one forum only.

I can have the text boxes prompting me to login displayed on a page but then if I click on a topic I go to a page which shows that I an logged in as admin. My browsers are set to not hold pages in their cache but it seems the same as if they do.

you have two forums on the same (sub)domain and you have your cookies set to website? even if you do clear cookies it may be an idea to try setting cookies to forum instead.

Just tried that again and it makes no difference. Seem to remember people having more probs if cookies are set to forum and not website. I'm going to try to change the directory structure anyway soon. Is there any advantage to having the following structure?
\forum1\asp files
\forum2\asp files
\db\shared database (it's not shared at the moment)
\images

Bump. Still suffering the logon probs. Have looked a lot in the Snitz help but no other posts state the same problem as mine.

You're using frames, and that's your problem.

Thanks. Is there a fix (apart from not using frames)?

Tried the Response.AddHeader mod but still no good. Turning off frames is an ugly option.
