Strange problem with subscription options.

If I set the 'Highest level of Subscription' to 'Whole board' I get the link to 'subscribe to this board' at the top level of the forum without any troubles. If I choose any other option (like subscribe to topic) the link disappears (obviously) but it also isn't present in a topic. If I choose any option that 'subscribe to whole board' I can't subscribe to anything - the link disappears altogether. Any ideas? I have chosen subscribe to whole board for you to have a look at:

Many many thanks,

Richard

PS Is the 'subscribe to topic' option available for this forum?

make sure you are setting the option at each level (Category and Forum).

When you setup the individual categories in the forum, it has a dropdown to enable subscriptions. It appears you enabled it in the admin configuration, but not (as richard pointed out) at the lower levels. This one bit me early on too. Once you have enabled there, you also set them up one step lower the same way to allow topic subscriptions.

Remember to allow the subscription to the highest level underneath if your wanting to allow it to be subscribed to in any place. If not youll find yourself subcribing to the board and low level topics only (which you may want?). If you always allow the highest, youll allow users to subscribe at any level that accomodates their needs.

Nice one - thanks AS400Wiz, that's really cleared things up. Excellant work with the system, Richard - it really is a lot easier to manage than phpbb and all the others. They're just too big and difficult to integrate well.
