Well just for a update for the guys who have been helping out... What did we find in the directory???

905 .mp3 files (102 albums) 6.18 GB
18 FULL movies 30.4 GB
4 Games 5.01 GB
21 programs 514 MB

All of this happened when I first setup a server and in the first week it was setup before we got everything closed down on it, it got hacked. I guess if you ever want to get illegal software without having to worry about downloading it then just get a server and leave it wide open

Wow, that could open up a whole new can of legal worms. . .

Could someone be liable for aiding in copyright infringment if their only crime was negligence in securing their server?

Why not? Say I did not find this out and the FBI came to me about me hosting illegal software. Because I have not found out about it, I deny I know anything about it. How do they know I am not telling the truth? Of course anyone that got question would always deny it.

That's incredible. So you're saying a virus/trojan/hacker got into your system, moved all these files into a folder and then renamed the folder to point to the control panel? So basically these files are hidden.

I have never heard of that. That's neat.

No wonder. If you create a new folder and call it "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}." it will create a dynamic folder to the control panels. Effectively redirecting you to the control panel and not to the contents of that folder.

Smart I tell ya.

Thats a good way to hide files, even if on your own computer . . .

Wouldn't do much good against any malicious attack, but it would be a great defence against roommates.

That is a great way to keep items hidden in your own PC. I wonder if you could link to the items within without actually clikcing through, i'm gonna have to try
