BTW, interesting pricing mechanism at ZeroForum ;
quote:
Message Storage
At the end of each billing period, the number of messages stored in your discussion database will be counted. For all messages in excess of your plan's Free Messages allowance, you will be assessed a monthly fee of $1 per 1,000 messages. You may delete messages at any time to lower your monthly costs.

Say what??!

it doesn't mention the db but the forum is unix based and is actually a web application not a web site hence the reason it is very quick, it also looks like you must host it on there servers which are by no means cheap $10 per gig of bandwidth is just outrageous plus the price per messages is totally bizare way of charging something !!!!

If the server is tuned right (and there are enough of them) it doesn't take a web application to get that kind of performance.

Take http://gaiaonline.com/ as an example.

MySql - PhpBB2 (highly modified) - 62,000,000 posts.

MSSQL can handle millions of rows fairly easily. It's all up to the way the application queries those rows to have efficiency and speed.

That forum is a little odd. One topic at quick glance has 476106 replies and there are many others that have 100,000 + replies

That isn't what I said, I said that the forum WAS a web application, hence it's speed, which is not the same thing as saying only a web app will give that performance.
A web application will allways be able to out perform a script based site given the same hardware to run on.

Run your spyware before you check that forum.
Then run it again after you've cruised around their forum a little.
I had a few uninvited additions.

I went back and double checked. . .I picked up nothing too.
It must have been something from another site.
(Ad aware show 64 little somethings!)
So. . .I'm checking my history and re-visiting a few of those sites to see if I can learn where I picked up all those dirty cookies.
