I've noticed that some Snitz forums have a "Forgot your Password?" link up by the login... However mine doesn't and I can't find that blasted setting anywhere! Is this one of those 'MODs' because I have been unable to find that either... just how do I go about getting that feature in my forums?
I'm using Access97, and have a few beta-forums up at: http://www.aaronhorrocks.com/ |

You will need to setup and turn on the Email Options on your forum to use that feature. You can find that in the Email Configuration in your admin options. |

Thanks for your help guys... However it only shines light onto the next problem! I can't select those email settings;
quote: If you don't have an SMTP server of any type, you will want to turn this feature off.
Since I don't have an SMTP server installed on my server, this 'radio button' option is grayed out. (No Compatable Component Found)
So, since I'm going to have to install an SMTP server, namely one that's compatable with the snitz forums, this brings up two questions. 1) What's compatable with the snitz forums? 2) what do you folks reccommend? |

You will need an email component that will allow you to send an email from your site to your email server, which then will take care of sending the email to the appropriate email address.
I personally like w3 JMail. (http://www.dimac.com) |

I installed Jmail...
However I have no idea what's going on with this stuff. I apparently have to edit some code to get it to work correctly? I think I might be better off with the server software they make? I used to be a hardware expert, but when it comes to this software like ASP or XML and database-driven stuff I'm all thumbs and need a handholding like I'm a moron to get me set on the right track from the very start. Then I can handle my own!
(I'm not a code guru. I took C++ in highschool, however I never "got it" and the teacher wouldn't help, or even teach - he was the football coach that just wanted to sit back and read a book for an hour... When I had to get sources from outside to help me, the guy tried to punish me for cheating. So I quit that class!) |

Edit code? No, after you install it and restarted the server, go back to your forum admin options, email settings. It should show that JMail is installed in the select box. Select it and enter in the rest of your details and your good to go. |
