Symantec = expensive... Currently where I work a majority of the boxes are linux, so not any real worries there. We don't run any antivirus on our windows boxes but scan them for viruses monthly with housecall at trendmicro, we also keep windows updated and check for updates weekly on all of them. We've never had a problem really, except when code red and nimda was around, but we learn from our mistakes.

We used to used to have a contract with Symantec to use norton for email virus scanning, it was expensive, I think somewhere around $40,000 a year (from what i've heard) for the amount of mailboxes we had, we then used F-Secure running on Rockliffe MailSite...it didn't seem to work the best, caught viruses but always locked up, now all that's gone and we handle email scanning on our spam boxes using ClamAV, a free AV program with free updates. It works pretty dang good.

Symantec Corporate 7 on w2k advanced server. Doesn't seem to work as well as v6, but we'll see. For personal i'm on Norton 2002 (better than 03/04, but lousy at catching trojans). Housecall works great for that.

At work on our massive network we use something from McAfee that's downloaded from their website as an activex deal and installed on the spot. Easy to rollout. No trouble there.
