Ok, tihs is a long shot, ie been searching for days now, but to no avail. I thought id try here and see if anyone knows a script which wil work for what i want.

1. Background
I am reviving an old website of mine, 36-degrees, it has always been a content focused music website, with lots of reviews, articles, discussionss etc. However, since the days when it was running before, the internet has grown up a bit, and the simplistic way the site worked isnt good enough anymore.

I decided that the site should take on a new direction, and after consulting people who will eventually be a part of the site staff, ive decided that the best way to offer high-volume, high-quality content is to offer 'musical diaries' where by each author has their own space to write articles, reviews, or whatever they see fit. Dosent sound too complicated does it?

2. Requirements
The script im looking for must offer the following:
- simple admin interface
- Different access levels for authors/admins/guests
- Ability to cater for numerous different areas of content.
- customisable interface and look.

3. Limitations
Due to my budget (being a full-time student) my webhosting is hardly excellent, its a windows focused operator, and as such they do not support MySQL, only MSSQL. Also, my experience in coding PHP is limited, therefore i would prefer an ASP based system, although if I found the right tool id be willing to overlook this. Also, my authors will be unskilled when it comes to coding/anything technial, therefore I need to be able to provide them with a simplistic way of adding their content.

Ive been looking for multi-user blogging tools, but ive not found one which is suitable and dosent require a MySQL backend. Any suggestions would be welcome (or perhaps someone kind enough to host my SQL database for me! *lol*)

Cheers.

ehm...perhaps it's a bit too simplistic, but you could try the oxle code...it has 'weblogs' integrated.

There's a few Wintel hosts that support MySQL if that's what you want to do. MSSQL is a higher cost to any hoster, and the charge is usually passed on to the customer.

I use pMachine for mine. It is best I have used. It is in PHP - but you shouldn't need to worry too much about that. It costs $45 - but going down down the mysql / linux route maybe cheaper in the long run than going with mssql for this non-commercial site.

Check it out here : http://www.pmachine.com/pmachinepro/

Cheers for the links, ive looked at those ones before, and theyre, good , but theyre not right.

Ive decided that instead of having one blog script for multiple users, i can have several blog scripts for single users. As such ive found a really simple blogging tool at http://www.ddncafe.com/ which i can modify to do waht i want. All i need to do is change the admin interface to stop users changing the CSS, and i can pull the various blogs together using includes. If you look at the blog section on that site, thats the sort of thnig im hoping to achieve (even though theirs is powered by livejournal).

Cheers.
