Hi folks,
I can't seem to get email working on my forums. Some information on my configuration: Single server, it runs Windows 2003 Small Business Server with Exchange 2003, IIS 6.0 with snitz installed on this box. Using Access DB for the forums. I relay the mail thru this server. The server is configured to relay using DNS. Exchange mail flow using a client (Outlook 2003 for example) works fine. I can configure a mail account using Outlook Express to send SMTP mail thru this server I can telnet to the server over port 25 and get a return from standard SMTP commands. The server's internal IP, external IP, and loopback address are configured for acceptance and relay of SMTP mail on the SMTP virtual server The forums are configured to use CDOSYS(IIS5/5.1/6) which is the only option that appears in the combo box of the configuration options for email.
Email confirmation doesn't work, although a person registering does get the page saying they should check for their confirmation email. I've tried using the 'send an email' feature when looking at an account's properties, and though it says the message has been sent, it never arrives. I've tried to watch my SMTP queues to see if it drops in but I don't see it.
Am I missing something? is there a way to further debug if the message attempts delivery? Any other tips / clues?
thanks!

Im experiencing the same issue. Im running windows 2003 server, with sql2000 db w/sp3a, and exchange 2003 w/sp1, with the latest snitz forum. I did manage to get one email stating that I needed to click the link to complete registration, but then got an internal server error. Now I just get relay errors when trying to update a profile's email address, and no email at all on new user registrations. I know outside of the forum exchange works across the domain and to other domains with no ndr's. Its just when the forum uses the smtp to send out. Not sure if I need to create a special smtp connector or not...so any ideas would be helpful! I also tried using different using different server address (e.g mail.diemert.org, had to use localhost to get setup to work.) |

Any messages in your Event Log ?
If you have Exchange setup for Authentication then you'll need to edit inc_mail.asp find the CDOSYS part of the big Case select structure and uncomment the two lines where the logon/password to use for authentication are set. Assign them an appropriate userid/logon and you should be good to go. |
