Well after many hours work, installing quite a few MOD's, I think it's good enough to be shown on here.

Take a look at http://www.timesharetalk.co.uk

It is fairly well MOD'd with -

Private Messages (inc toast notification)
Avatar (inc gallery)
Portal (with own changes)
Member Statistics
Hover Colour (Crash)
My Own Google (OneWayMule)
Google Translation (OnWayMule)
Spelling Checker

I have also changed quite a bit of the Snitz code around.

If you want to have a good look round, please use -

Any comments appreciated, all questions on the coding answered.

Looks nice, though I'd get rid of the frameset and perhaps use alternating colors for the replies.

Also, you might want to add a page that says what the site is for/about. I know when I enter a site, I want to be able to see what it's about without having to try and find the info myself :)

Roland,

Thanks. I used frames for a couple of purposes -

1. To ensure that the Adsense ad's return a true relation to the site. It is very difficult when using the ad's on a forum as they will return for each page, and sometimes this can end up being rubbish.

2. I use frames for optimisation purposes.

A lot of people seem very wary of using frames, but on all the sites I have used them on, I have had no problems.

Once the current front page has run for a while, I will be setting a standard front page explaining who we are and what we do.

endomorph, there are some ways of ensuring the validity of the google ads. I've got them running on my site, and because I parse the topic-message into the HTML Keywords metatag, Google Adsense picsk up the correct keywords, and presents more or less accurate ads.
It would really improve your site experience, I'm sure of that.

I also agree with Roland about the color of the topic vs the color of the replies. I'd make the replies a wee bit more light.
I'd also change the color of the bar at the bottom (with the © 2004 Timeshare Talk text in it) to the same as the background or transparent.

Btw, it is a quite fast website!! I wish I had that performance.

Thanks marcelgoertz,

I have changed the second cell colour, and yes I guess it does look a bit better.

As for the adsense, I will change in time.

The speed is mainly courtesy of my domain host, I run quite a few sites using ASP and they are all pretty fast.

Graphics, layout and design all work really well.
But once I got into the forum, I couldn't get back to the "Welcome" page. There doesn't seem to be a link for it.

I like the way frames look, but decided against using them myself because the user can't cut and paste the topic address into a message. (The topic address doesn't show.)

Panhandler,

Thanks for the comments.

Forgot about getting back to the portal page. I have now changed it so you can click on 'Home' in the header.

If you needed to cut and paste the topic address, you can still right click and properties on the page to get it. I know it is a bit more cumbersome, but frames gives me more advantages.
