No matter what I do, I can not manage to have the My Subscription link s how up on the top of any forum topic page. I've tried the various levels of subscription selection under the features configuration , but it makes no differnce. Anyone have the answer to getting the subscriptions to work so that a forum user will be emailed upon a reply to their topic. I'm using version 3.4.04 - Your help would be appreciated.

To setup subscriptions you have do the following:

1. Enable the Email function in Admin Options -> Email Server Configuration and choose the mail component and specify the address of your mail server.

2. In Admin Options -> Feature Configuration select there the subscription level you want to use (whole board, category, forum or topic)

3. Now you have to turn on the subscriptions for every single category and forum you want to use them with. This is done with editing the category/forum (click on the pencil icon () on the right side of the the categories/forums on your default.asp).

4. Then, you can subscribe to the whole board/category/forum/topic by clicking on the subscribe icon ().

5. To view your subscriptions click on "My Subscriptions" in the navigation menu.

Thanks for the info. I had to go through it several times before I found all of the "allow subscription" selections.

Thanks again,

Irv

I have a similar issue, except that all subs quit after we went to Exchange 2003. All the settings are correct (as they were), but no emails are being sent. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

You need to make a similar operations for categories as well. Don't forget you need to do it for every single category and every single forum.

I'm having a similar problem.

I have enabled subscriptions at all levels -- board, topic, forums, everything. And I can make subscriptions. But email is not being sent.

The email server works fine for other notifications (such as registration and/or sending email to a forum participant). But we get no notifications for any postings. I'm not sure which email thingee I should be using (I chose the first one of the five or six that are listed) but since it works for other email I suspect it should work for notifications. How can I troubleshoot this?

How are you testing it? Emails will not be sent to you as a result of your own posts.

Yep, as usual you have the answer.

Stupid me -- so now that I've enabled all the subscription levels (and had other folks reply to my messages :>) it works. Thanks.
