A big thank you to Snitz, I’ve never used such an easy to set-up & reliable (Famous last words!) piece of freeware, shareware, or whatever it’s called these days.

If anyone fancies a job at this seasons music festivals head for the online application:

www.DCSiteServices.com

Theres also a link in the news area to volunteering work at the Leeds festival – move quickly if you do fancy it though, my email address has recently been posted by the Mean Fiddler on their website & in the NME! Joy of joys!

Thanks again – oh no mods really, couple of image edits – that I really need to spend more time with, will play with it soon…as soon as I burn this list!

Best wishes – Mark Hatchard

It's very hard to read, try a lighter green or darker text for the forum topic/replies

You think? I’ve recently rebuilt the site & have had lots of positive comments, nobody has mentioned having trouble reading the text – the same scheme is used for the other areas of the site.

Hmm…I’ll post a note about this in the news area & see what they think.

Cheers for the input.

Not bad, but I have to agree with DavidRhodes: the content of the posts is very hard to read, especially since the category font color and links are white.

Yeah I tend to agree with you now you’ve mentioned the white, blast!

Right I’m going to go get me some more tobacco, have a wonder by the river (Making sure to observe the variety of greens & greys along the way of course), & then come back & reassess things!

I’ve just taken on a web designer as this isn’t really my area, slowly but surely I’ll hand most of our sites over to him…oh I am looking forward to the day when I can moan to him about this sort of stuff!

Thanks again – Mark

Oh & some pretty stuff here if you fancy a look www.HotBoxStudios.co.uk

Hello & thank you - I was thinking about a link to the forum itself but thought perhaps it would be better to leave it in the context of the site i.e. for comments like the text colour one – so you know why I’ve done it & so on. I also thought this way I can offer you guys some work at festivals with us – great bunch that lot, bit barmy, but great bunch, both can never hurt though eh.

Thanks again - Mark

I agree as well with colors. The dark gray on green is very hard to read.

The biggest problem (text color) has already been addressed, so I won't comment on that. My big question is why use an intro page if it doesn't give any info or serve a real purpose?

I’ve posted a note in the forum about the colour scheme – I'll wait for some replies before I make any decisions - we’ve got an okay user base, about 750 applications through the website & roughly 1000 users per year so hopefully they'll all get round to registering soon – I'll be sending out the monthly newsletter tomorrow so I'll pop it in there too, they're not all regular computer users though so it may take a while to get a decent response. Apart from our users positive comments about the rest of the site so far, the key reason I’m holding off changing the green/grey thing is that on all the screens here its very readable – they are mostly all sony onxy or other sony flatscreens but I've an older sony tft here & an even older horrible round thing for the server (Love it really! Always going to keep that thing!). Then you've all agreed on it...hmm...

The splash screen - well back in the day before mass usage of BB & so on splash screens were far more important & highly recommended i.e. it's the first thing you hit on the site & as long as you keep them low on graphics and so on it gives the user a nice quick first impression, once they've had that the theory went that they wouldn't mind waiting a little longer to enter the main area of the site. I admit it’s 'generally' less of an issue these days, although always aiming for the lowest common denominator & with our users being an odd bunch: many work with us half the year then wonder off travelling for the other half, head off working with charities, find a nice little hut in the woods etc. Therefore many access the site via a 56k or lower speed connection & this kind of keeps that old philosophy alive. I guess its just habit now really, the fact that the splash page logo is dia & in need of an upgrade doesn't really help matters! There used to be other issues relating to search engines i.e. information on page duplicated from meta as they seemed to pay far more attention to page contect but search engines seem to be working far better with meta tags nowadays so that's not so much of an issue.

All that said I have been thinking of getting rid of it...hmm...I'll have a thunk, thank you again for the input.
