OK, I've been trying to find some good web-based project management software, you might know the sort :

- multiple projects
- multiple users
- tasks within projects
- time-based tasks (i.e. "every Friday you have to do .....")
- to do lists
- due by dates
- etc....

The first recommendation was php-collab, but the minimal install instructions (and my non-existent knowledge of PHP) means I can't get it working (login errors after a seemingly successful database creation). So this thread is two-pronged :

- has anyone successfully setup collab, and has the time to guide me through my current install issues ?

-OR-

- can anyone recommend any other software that can do the same job ?

(PS Does Snitz use something to manage this sort of stuff ?)

TimeTracker seems more like a timesheet system, I need something a lot more complex than that unfortunately, but thanks for the link anyway

Worst case Laser we'll just put the phpcollab on a nix machine, I'm sure it's something to do with Windows+PHP not playing nice.

We are working on a system like this where I work. My initial concept was made with php and MySQL but now we are doing it in Python and MS SQL.

dont know how much use these'll be but all from the FSF Free software directory so price should be no problem ;)

"Planner/MrProject"
"Achievo"
"TaskJuggler"
"WebCollab"
"Opensched"

WebCollab and opensched seem to be the closest things to what you're looking for.

Thanks for that list Jezmeister I looked thru the FSF site as well, I found Achievo but not WebCollab. The other ones won't measure up, but that's not your fault

FWIW, Gremlin came to the rescue (again ) and installed php-collab on a *nix machine running Apache and it worked straight away. The software is good, but obviously not when you're running under IIS

Found another one that looks ok too http://www.countersoft.com/ Free 10 user license and its a .NET app. It's mainly for "Issue Tracking" with projects but may suit some of your requirements anyway.

Only one thing kills it the TLA saying :

No installation is permitted on an internet-facing server.

Yikes

No worries, it's a bit like Snitz you could probably disregard the TLA but you will get caught at some stage
