Both these sites use the MaxWebPortal, which is largely dependent on snitz forums. We've modified it a lot, largely to simplify it. MaxWebPortal is kinda overly complex, and has too many features for my tastes.

In the case of http://ittybiddy.com/community , we've also got an auction software running... so the real challenge was designing and modifying both softwares to look as much alike as possible.

Obviously, all I did was borrow the work we'd done for http://ittybiddy.com and copied it over for my personal site, http://crankydog.com/community ... sans auctions.

I think in future projects, I'll likely stick with the snitz forum, and not complicate my life by using MaxWeb. It's got some cool features, but I'm all about simplicity, now. Discussion and knowledge sharing is really the core.

Great software... thanks everyone!

BTW - feedback and suggestions of course welcome.

Cheers...

This looks very nice and well integrated within your site.
One thing though, why can I see your delete forum/category buttons when I am not even the admin, and not logged in either.

Ah! Therein lies the rub.
I couldn't agree more. Clicking those will generate a "Hey you can't do that" type message. This is a major drag.
MaxWebPortal (the version I downloaded in Dec 03) uses an older version of Snitz, apparently. They talk about releasing a new version of MWP with a more recent version of Snitz (perhaps they already have) ... but I've had to make so many mods, that upgrading will potentially be a huge programming headache.
If there were one or two files to upload that would upgrade this aspect, I'd be a happy camper. I'm afraid that may not be the case, though. Do you know any different? I hope so... ;)

Anyway, you nailed my biggest complaint. That's why I'm thinking in the future of only using Snitz raw (so to speak).

Thanks...

Ooops...
Good question. I only posted the crankydog one the other day. It's exactly the same programmatically, but it doesn't show the rightmost column (with edit options) unless one is logged in. ittybiddy does. Now I'm very confused, since I simply copied ittybiddy to crankydog.
Hmmm. Sometimes you're so close to these things you quit seeing them.

Will be working on this the rest of the day. Thanks.

What's the emoticon for "I'm a freakin' idiot?"
Well, that didn't take long. In the admin screens, under "forum features", "non-cookie mode" must be "off".
Which is kinda counter-intuitive. For the Cookies to be On, Non Cookie must be Off. Why not call it Cookie Mode, On?
Oh well. Now I know.

Thanks for pointing that out.
