Every timezone has it's own set of rules surrounding "Daylight Savings" or "Summer Time" or whatever they happen to call it. Some timezones in some countries don't even recognise it at all and never change their time backwards or forwards (mainly equatorial places who already get enough sunshine hours in a day no matter what the season). Theres one place in Australia I can think of that stil only moves by half an hour rather than whats become the more normal 1 hour as well.

Found this on google which has some interesting info http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/g.html

Nah Gremlin, the states that bother to move all move by one hour. The toughest part in Australia is the 3 eastern states that are all in the one time-zone. Two recognise DST, the other doesn't (NSW & Vic do, Qld doesn't). It comes down to the locals really getting peeved off - drive up the road and everything is different.

I actually thought it was a city rather than a specific state becuase I know they're all pretty standard, anyway, you being the ocker I'll take your word for it :).

We used to have a City in NZ that didn't recognise DST at all so theres always silly little exceptions around the world I'm sure.

The problem in Australia (well, the world) is that most timezones are whole hours different from GMT. Central time (SA & NT) is +0.5 hrs from AEST, but during DST the clocks in Qld are actually behind the clocks in SA & NT, now THAT is weird

NZ Originally started off with only 1/2 hour for daylight savings back in the late 20's or early 30's I think .. maybe we got that idea from across the ditch ;)
