Hi there
I am not sure if i should be writing here on the MODs...
I had to shut down my forum, according to one of the steps in the readme on the Active User MOD but now I can't get into any of my files, I cannot download any files from my FTP from the forum, I am locked out completely. Each time I try to load a page, it just comes up blank and it's TRYING to load. I am DESPERATE.
I thought this would be nothing major but it looks like a lost my site and I can't access anything.
HELP! HELP! |

| Shutting down the forum has nothing at all to do with FTP access. You should login and start up the forum again (admin_home.asp from memory, but I might be wrong). |

You should be able to FTP to the site. Tried to talk to your host about it?
Also you can bring back the forum with, I believe with down.asp?mlev=4 |

looks like your site may be down. Rui is right, you should talk to your host.
I can get to your setup page and the reame file, so that's not it. you should look at the changes you made to the files. however, you should still be able to ftp files. |

yes, something was up with the hosting company and the FTP is fixed BUT I still can't access my forum. Any ideas??? I just get a blank page...I put a test page up and that works so it's not the hosting comp
Could it be that when the hosting company went down, it might have corrupted my database, if it was trying to update?? |

I would be really annoyed if my db got messed up....
I also didn't change any files, i did everything on-line....it worked beautifully before i shut down the forum. I am making a back up of my db and uploading an old one, see if that does. the down.asp?mlev=4 didn't work, i get a blank page agin

no, all i did was the following:
1) Shut down forum
2) Upload files from Active User Setup (like directions)
3)Go to mod setup under admin (only section that seemed to work was admin area)
4) Then i tried to access the forum, and i would take AGES to load...like it's doing right now
I am confused. |

i waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and i got the following error:
The database could not be opened !!
Check your config.asp file and set the
strConnString so it points to the database.
Also check if strDBType is set to the right databasetype.
Code : 80004005
Error Description :
Could not use ''; file already in use.
I never changed the config file...this is so messed up. I am deleting all my files (except db) and posting my back up. hopefully this will fix it. |

yes, i uploaded the backup but nothing happened, so i uploaded my files (before customization) into a new folder called forum_new and it seems to work but when i login, it logs me in and redirects me to the home page. I can't log in...
Also, when i did the customization, i checked each file 1 by 1 and i got no errors but it looks like my customized files are the problem??? HOw is this possible when it worked before and i deleted nothing |

ok, i am back to square one, I created a new folder and uploaded new fresh files, so I am back to where I was before shutting down the forum. Now i am too scared to shut down the forum!!! I think I have to in order to implement the MOD...is shutting down the forum a big task for the db? I am curious...
ALso when I renamed my good folder back to forum it wouldn't work again, is that weird or what? |
