Hi folks.

I feel really stew-pid having to post such a dirt simple question.

I have tooled around my forum looking for where to add my first poll, and I have searched here for help. I tried to search at ServerHacker's forum where I downloaded the MOD'd board, but his server is down.

Quick Q: Where do I go to add POLLS?

My Snitz Forums 2000 version info and URL:

Version: 3.4.03
URL: http://www.wvupci.org/forum/

Thanks for helping a newbie so embarrassed he almost didn't post!

Sincerely,
Doug Joseph

Go to Admin Options -> Poll Configuration -> set Polls to "On"
Now edit the forums where you want to enable Poll posting, and enable it (for either admins and moderators only or all members).

Aaahhh. I had already done everything except editing a certain forum to enable polls. I didn't realize the polls were always tied to their particular forums, but now that I see that, it makes sense, and in fact I wouldn't want to have it any other way.

Sincerely,
Doug Joseph

Edited later... (see below)

OneWayMule:

OK, I got Polls working, and it's great. I just have one more problem:

I see a place on the Site News page (portal) for listing a Featured Poll. When I click the little "Edit" icon to try to pick my poll to make it featured I get this ERROR:

quote:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e14'

Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'TOPIC_ID ='.

/forum/post.asp, line 134

Argh!

EDITED TO ADD:

Wait, I got it now. I was using the wrong place to edit the featured poll. I see that has to be done in the Admin panel. Whew. Got it now.

Sincerely,
Doug Joseph

Don't know what might cause that... you'd better ask that over at Serverhacker's forum when it's back up.
Meanwhile, try the following: set the featured poll from Admin Options -> Poll Configuration, maybe this works.

That's a bug with ServerHacker's portal. Search for it over at thier forum when it is up, or post a question about it over there.
