                      | So I successfully upgraded a 3.05 forum to a 4.04 forum in an attempt to install the smile manager plus MOD.
My only problem is, I cannot open the MOD setup menu from the admin options.

I click it, and the status window says waiting for www.mywebsite.com I have a feeling it has something to do with my server..

Every other thing works though. Even the alternate MOD setup menu.

I also want to install a poll MOD, ipgate, and others. But seems each one requires me to use dbs files which are accessible only from that MOD setup menu.

 thanks for all your help!

                      | Some additional info:
The forum works fine until I try to access the MOD setup window. Once I click that, nothing works. Can't get back into the forum, post, etc.. until I either:

stop and start IIS, close the browser window and open a new browser.

 Reboot the server.

Does the same thing in IE6 and Mozilla

                      | Probably has something to do with the Scripting.FileSystem Object. Have you tried using the Alternate MOD Setup? |

                      | Yeah, that menu works fine, but it gives me a window where I can put in a SQL command? or query?
In any case, I have reason to believe it is my servers problem.. IIS seems to be really flakey. I'm getting sporadic error messages like:

 Document contains no data
 RPC server unavailable

Can you recommend a different web server? for windows XP? that supports ASP? and free? (LOL lots to ask eh?)

                      | LOL
heh, it never occured to me that the alternat setup window was an actual code window.. hahaha

I'm guessing if i paste the contents of the dbs files into it and process it, it will work?

I thought it was a window to run queries on the forum database.

                      | Unfortunately, yes.
I installed IIS 5.1 and went to windows update where it promptly added new JET drivers as well as a security patch for IIS
