Yeah, I should have applied the old fix a long time ago...oh well.
I hope this makes it to the base code. Nortons fault or not, the users should be top priority. |

I'm feeling like a real noob at the moment, but I want this MOD installed and can't make it happen. The steps are drop-dead simple, find this line :
strReferer = chkString(request.servervariables("HTTP_REFERER"),"refer")
in inc_header.asp and replace with some different code. The readme even goes as far to give an 'after' shot of what the code will look like.
Aaaahhhh ... ignore me (but I'm posting this if someone needs help : compare the 2 files in the MOD's zip; check for strRefer; and alter your code to match. Basically replacing Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER") with strReferer. |

Davio, maybe you should add this to the MOD ?
In register.asp for 3.4.03 version:
if InStr(Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER"), "policy.asp") = 0 then Response.Redirect("policy.asp")
replace it by
if InStr(strReferer, "policy.asp") = 0 then Response.Redirect("policy.asp") |

My problem was more like :
strRefer didn't exist at all in the 2 files |

The mod was done with Snitz 3.4.04 in mind. It's much easier to change 3.4.04 than previous versions, and I guess we didn't even tested it with 3.4.03. I'm not completely sure that the change posted by wii is all that's required for 3.4.03. It is certainly enough for the registration issue, but that's not the only issue with the use of HTTP_REFERER. |

Not likely Nikkol, I doubt that I ever delete lines, just comment them out. I'll look into it more anyway .. dunno how I'm going to fix it though.
ruirib, a bit confusing here ... this thread states 3.4.04 but the MOD readme states "It is based on the Snitz Forums 3.4.04 version, but will also work with previous versions of the Snitz Forums." maybe the but should be removed. |

Yeah, I guess something should be changed, indeed. We should state that, as it is, only 3.4.04 is directly supported. I probably could investigate the needed changes for 3.4.03... will see. |

Hi, has anyone had a chance to look at the changes needed for 3.4.03.
Specifically the 2nd change in the inc_header.asp file at line 65 - strReferer = chkString(request.servervariables("HTTP_REFERER"),"refer")
I can't seem to find that string in my code.
Thanks!

There is an annoyance with this mod the referrer is sending you back to the last open browser window, for example, when viewing a topic and clicking on the camera icon to view members photos (images 2001 forum) then go to reply to their topic the post_info.asp page is sending you back to pop_photo_gallery.asp
I've noticed this on a few pages, I know its not a bug as such, its just the way the refer is working but this is a problem as most people have numerous browser windows open while browsing the forums and are being redirect to the last browser window that was open, I have removed this mod and all is working ok now, maybe it needs to be modified a little to remove this annoyance. |
