I have a field in all user profiles. Only an admin can see the field and enter data in it to the db. So far everything's all right, but:
when the user is updating his/her profile the field above is over written with nothing because they didn't enter anything.
Is it possible to have this field visible but write protected or is there some other solution?

the best thing to do would be to check for the member level in the section where the data is updated in the database. That way it's only updated when the Admin is modifying the profile, and not when the user is.

Yeah, I'm right now about to test with an inserted if-string in the sql-string. Don't know if it will work though.. =)

EDIT: nope, I'm only getting a "HTTP Error 507" when trying to update my profile now.
