I am trying to block a particular user for our intranet forum. It is a generic user that many of the people at our site use to access basic NT accounts, and as such, using NT Authorization is fine and dandy, but we want to make the forum users accountable, and deny them access to this user.
I have searched through the forums, but not come up with another issue quite like this ... does NT Authentication interfere with the UserName filtering. I have tried to delete this user, put in the words into the filter, and then log in, and so long as it is a valid NT user, they're still registered.
Any ideas? Thanks. |

Unfortunately, locking out the user doesn't seem to work either, and indeed, causes a quite unexpected (to me anyway) result. When I go to sign in again as the 'locked out' user, I am able to do so without problems, with normal access to the forums, i.e. no locking of anything. When I go to the Members directory, I can see myself there no problem.
What is strange is that when I sign back in as my Administrator, and check the Members directory, there are two entries for the same user.
Ok, while I was writing this post, I enabled the unique Email address option, and now that locked out member is denied access to the forums because the email address that is attempted to be registered for the 'new' generic user is the same as the locked one already in the forum. (I'm using Autologin and NT Auth, and have forced the email upon registrations to default to the NTusername@mydomain.com through a modification of the ASP code.)
Although I'm happy enough with that particular user now not being granted access to the program, it seems a bit kludgy. Oh well, thanks for your help Nikkol. |
