I was wondering if spiders / robots are actually able to access hidden forums? I have the active users mod and noticed the googlebot was wandering along in one of the topics of the hidden forums, but unsure of HOW it found the link to it since the post had just been made. Heard of this before? |

I got the active users mod which id's the bot, plus this is a known bot from google which hovers my site constatnly so tracking it by ip alone is enough to know it's a bot and from who. |

So this thing actually shows up in the active users. Does it say the active user is googlebot. What ip do you get for it. I don;t see the active users mod anywhere. |

Do you know you have this? Could this have something to do with it?
What does 'Ads by Google' mean?
It means that Google uses search-based technologies to match advertisements to the content and context of web pages - so the ads you see are related to the information you are viewing. The ads come from Google's base of more than 100,000 AdWords advertisers. These advertisers range from global brand name companies to small local businesses.

Can you please ask about my site or other mods elsewhere in the appropiate forum, I am actually trying to get help with my question stated above. the google ads have nothing to do with a robot going into something it should not see. |

Don't you think you would have gotten it by now if it was available? I feel i am your only hop. How can anything go anyway if it can't see it? You have a seeing eye dog? You said goggle was on your site and i found you have Ads by Goggle. Is it on your hidden site. I don't see where i asked about another mod either. So, one more point, if we don't understand what the heck you want you won't get an answer. Just feel lucky i am bumping your topic so it doesn't fade into obscurity. |

Just because the Active Users MOD shows that a "bot" or any other user is viewing a page, doesn't mean they are.
If someone tries to access a forum or topic they don't have access to, they get an error page saying that they don't have access, but the Active Users MOD is still going to show them accessing that forum or topic because it is based on the FORUM_ID and TOPIC_ID in the URL. |

guessme,
Your attitude on these forums is being increasingly questioned by moderators and users alike, you have been warned before, if your behaviour does not improve your account will be locked the next time I receive a complaint containing your username.

Wouldnt the google ads give google the page url and then google would try to index that page because it is not in their system and as Richard said they will goto the page, but will get an error but the active users mod will still show them on the page. |

This is exactly what is happening.
Google ads are served up relative to the content on the page...
To be sure of what to serve up on that page, a variation of googlebot with a different user agent:- Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html) comes along to spider the page.
When it does that, it will only see the message telling it it cannot access the forums.
Therefore you will notice that the ads served in the moderator forums are either generic adverts, or adverts that are matched to the what little information it receives.
This is certainly nothing to worry about.
