I don't know if this is already "common knowledge" and I've just been "in the dark", but...
A couple of months ago, I updated to Netscape 7.1. I love NS and rarely use IE. However, I really liked the Google toolbar, only available for IE. I had the 'My Sidebar' google panel for NS, and even set up a custom keyword so I could search google from the location bar, but it wasn't the same as having the toolbar.
Anyway, the other day, while doing some other stuff, I came across an article discussing how to write toolbars for NS. I didn't even know this was possible. That got me thinking, and I did a search for 'google toolbar netscape'. The first result was http://googlebar.mozdev.org/ - a google toolbar emulator for NS/Mozilla!
I installed right away. It has all the features of the IE toolbar, plus some specialty searches, and all works great. The only thing I have found that is missing is the 'Pagerank' display.
I've only installed in NS 7.1, I don't know if it will work with 7.0 or not. I've been happy with it.
Just wanted to share with other NS/Mozilla users. Has anyone else used it? Let me know what you think... |
