I am working on a Shopping Cart for someone and was wondering if anyone had and thoughts about the checkout. When they click checkout it asks them to login or create an account. When they create an account it just asks them for information like
First Name: Last Name: Company: Phone: E-mail: Password: Password Confirm: Address: City: State: Postal Code: Country: How did you hear about us: Salesmen:
Now my question is when they create an account should they be able to specify the shipping address to use and be able to insert multiple shipping address? This way when they check it asks them where the would like to ship it to? Or just when they click checkout it asks them for that information? I am thinking about using paypal for the checkout.
Well I just saw a problem. With paypal your customers can only purchase $2,000 worth if they are a new customer until they verify their email address and bank account. Each product will be a min of $1700
Why reinvent the wheel ? why not just grab a copy of CandyPress and customise it to suit your needs ? at $40 or so it's probably quicker than coding anything of your own.

exactly.
however, I downloaded a free shopping cart app with the intenions of reviewing it and modifying it. I have not done that yet but you may want to check it out:
The only reason why I am writing the code is to make it work exactly like the customer wanted. As you can see I have most of it done, but I guess I will look at candy and see if it will offer the same options I need. I just hate having to try and alter other peoples code.
Candys Code is really quite simple and nicely laid out, I've done a couple of implementations now for customers and found it very easy going, their support is pretty top notch also.
Ops I guess I forgot a small include file... You can just view what I have at http://www.shabangexpress.com/cat.asp until tommorow when I get a chance to upload a new page from my work computer.
Gremlin, in candy can you give a product a bunch of different options along with specifying an extra amount for that option like i have at http://shabangexpress.com/products.asp?id=2
If you have bought the admin version and its easy to setup I would like to see the admin version (not the code but it in action) I have no problem throwing down $40 for the product.

Yes you can assign option groups.
You can demo the admin section on the candypress site, it's all pretty easy to use.
I bought it and set it up last night. It works pretty good for $40. I wish you could set the default value of the text boxes for the options. I will be going thru and adding this feature along with making it where they can select a sales rep and the sales rep can login and view their sales
