So it's gotta be a hardware problem right? The computer will cycle through several boot sequences, sometimes actually booting to Windows, sometimes not. A few days ago, when if finally did boot successfully, I could just leave it on and it would be fine. But now, if it boots successfully, I can work on it for a few minutes and it shuts down again.
I've pretty much eliminated the memory, hard drive, cd/dvd rom drives, zip drive, usb, agp, and other cards (I think at least).
Anyone have suggestions for what I should look into? Maybe a BIOS setting I'm overlooking or something? I'll be sending it back to the manufacturer on Monday, but I'd like to get my data off of it before then.
(As a side note, I got a nifty new Dell laptop with a wide screen. Anyone know what I have to do to make the icons not look distorted in IE?) |

I'd bet money on the PSU as well. Other possibility is thermals, make sure the CPU Fan etc is working. |

well it wasn't the power supply either. I at a loss at the moment. I'm hoping the manufacturer will just let me send it back without the hard drive. |

Snap .. just got a new Dell D600 laptop the other day with 11g included, so had to go out and buy an Access Point yesterday too :) ... been bluetooth wireless already but "real" wireless seems to be a bit more reliable than my bluetooth setup. |
