These forums are great, but they haven't released a new version. Is there ever going to be one?
The search function is too slow for me, so if a post exist like this I'm sorry. |

welcome.
I have a question for you. What is the reason you think there needs to be a new version? |

How about a version with the security and bug fixes applied? I know there's one made by a member, but personally I'd prefer an official release. Sure, I could go through the bug forums myself, but why do the work that Richard's already done? |

goog point roland. I was fixed on the idea that we need a new version. I agree, a patched up version (cumulative version) would be nice. |

A working mobile version seems long overdue (at least PDA if not true WAP).
It would completely set these forums apart from any others I know of.

I don't think enough people would use that to warrant a mobile version. |

Whenever snitz moves to CSS based formatting, a mobile version could easily created. If the classes were used correctly, tehre could be a version for pretty much everything - screen, print, mobile, etc.
Perhaps the DEV team will keep it in ming |

Well I was interested in a update because there hasn't been one in a long time.
There are many forums that are a lot better then these, but I like ASP rather then CGI, PHP so I stick with Snitz. Snitz forums actually works on my webhost properly, my webhost is pretty tight on what he allows hosted on his server.
There are a few bugs, Norton Personal Firewall 2k3 and 2k4 have built in ad blocking and popup blocking software, if I try to register it will simply redirect me back to the register page. I do not have time to go along and fix this myself. It does this because it there is a hidden form that says "referrer" which Norton removes this because it think it's an tracking device. That is just a minor thing.
Anyway, I'd like to see polls, upload feature, without having to do the trouble of using MODs. I think a built in Private Messaging system would be nice, but like I mentioned I do not have much free time on my hands to go editing this forums sourcecode.
dayve, I think its about time for a new version. It seems like this project has been dropped, maybe they are too busy with it. I understand that completely. I'd really hate to get rid of Snitz, I personally love these forums! Come on man, the last release was on September 16, 2002... I'd like to see Snitz 2004 :-)
Has the Snitz project been dropped or what? |

the "Bug" is with Norton Personal Firewall, there is nothing wrong with the forum. We are using standard practices, Norton Personal Firewall is the problem here.

These won't be in the base code anytime soon.

Richard, thanks for your reply!
I know that NPF is the problem, but is it possible to bypass it without going through the hassle of having people reconfigure Norton?
Is there going to be any new releases soon?
Thanks! |

There will be a bug-fix release soon (I know I've been saying that for awhile). Just haven't really had the time to finish it up and get it out. |

So how often should there be a new release ? All the developers (I'm sure) lead busy lives apart from pouring as much time into Snitz as they can. The MODs are created are the simple fact that you bolt-on what you want that isn't in the base code. If you don't have time, find a person (volunteer or paid) that can do the work for you. |
