Can anyone recommend a method for this?

What I'd really like to have is some form of online 'tip box'. Failing that, than some kind of system giving access to paid-for content.

Most importantly, any initial investment must be minimal.

unless your site provides some kind of service, I think this concept is frowned upon, but yeah, I see a lot of sites using the PayPal donation feature.

I would use paypal and use the IPN feature to tell your website exactly who paid to have it automatically give them access to the paid content and set an expiration date for there paid access.

I'm not entirely happy with the concept of 'online begging' myself. I'm fairly sure the site porvides a service that my readers are very happy with and, on occasion, forums members have asked about making donations. Usually I can only suggest that they might send a cheque in the post, which is a whole lot of hassle.
I'm looking into the possibility of getting an sms service so people can easily donate in a few seconds using their mobile phone. No credit cards, cheques or hassle that way.
