Some of my users will like to have the possibility to go to the next or previous item in the "Active topics" view, or in any way to go through the "Active topics" without allways have to click on the "Back" botton in the browser, or right-clicking and "open in new window" in the "Active topics" view.
How about adding a link in active.asp which would open the topic directly in a new window? If that would be an option, Roland made a mod which allowed each member to set if he wanted to open the topic in a new window or the same. I don't know if he ever released it, but here is the topic.
