I'm interested in peoples views of .uk.com domains. A lot of hosts do not seem to support them but I have seen a few sites using this type of domain. Are they worth using if you can't get a .co.uk or .com? Does the extension really make that much difference to a site?

I personally would'nt use a uk.com domain or suggest it to a client. The biggest problem with domain names is getting people to remember them, in which case sticking to the well-known extensions like .com and .co.uk will ultimately give the best results.

There's a company in Australia that does the same thing -> .au.com's. The main problem is they charge a FORTUNE for then . FAR! in excess of a .com or even a .com.au price

Thanks for the replies. So the only real issues are cost, public perception and availability of hosts. I've seen various prices ranging from about £30.00 to £65.00 for a .uk.com regsistration. I do have a domain registered already. my first problem is that I can't use the same host as I do for my other domains, because they don't support these extensions. But this name is about as good as I can get.
