I use Homesite 5 from Macromedia. Richard Kinser also uses Homesite (I think). I'm not sure what the other developers use.
I just recently tried Dreamweaver MX and it looks like it can replace my Homesite, since Homsite is integrated into Dreamweaver MX. |

Dreamweaver has more functions, but Homesite is probably just as powerful since a lot of functions in Dreamweaver can't be used with the forum files (such as the design view). Both aren't free though, so before anyone gives an in-depth review of those programs you might want to let us know whether or not you're willing to spend money on an editor |

It seems that every week or so, someone comes up with the same or a similar question .. 'What is the best tool to use for ???', and the same people provide the same replies as they did the last time. For some time I have thought that there should be a separate category/forum for development tools where these opinions and recommedations can be brought together. This both for the new user/developer of Snitz forums to find out what's available, and for seasoned developers to declaim about their latest discovery! I envisage separate sections for each type of tool, editor, compare and merge, SQL administrator, etc., etc. and separate topics for each tool in it's category, starting with a brief review, pros & cons, cost, availability, and where to get it if Public Domain/open source etc. Sorry if I seem to be Hijacking this topic, but I'd like to hear what others think.
Regards .. Alan |

Though it's true that questions similar to this one get asked on a regular basis, it doesn't warant a seperate forum, and definitely not a seperate categories with several forums. There are too many forums as it is, and creating a forum for two questions per month that could've also been put in the Community Discussions forum is, IMO, a waste of space and will cause more confusion |
