We have so many topics, that if a user doesn't vist the site ever day, the active topics page becomes HUGE.
Anyone alterd the code to make active topics pageable ? |

I was thinking about this myself recently, not so much in relation to my own site, but when I check active topics here on a Monday morning, the page can be quite large. Unfortunately with the world cup coming up, I don't have the time myself to write a mod for this, but if anyone else is interested, here's what I was thinking.
1) Dupe up the code used for paging in search.asp and apply it to active.asp
2) If there's more than one page of active topics, it could be possible that a visitor's "last here date" is updated when loading each page, thus causing active topics to be reset as they clicked throught the pages. So, either:
a) "last here date" is only updated on page 1, or,
b) some sort of check could be added to make sure "last here date" hasn't already been updated during the current session.
Hope that helps you or someone else at least make a start on a solution.

Would you really find it more useful though, i've used WebWizForums which has multi page active topics and didn't like it |

I would like it 100%
Our forum gets very busy, and if someone doesn't check it every 24 hours, there's atleast 200 active topics. This could really slow someone on a dialup connection down. In adition to helping my members, it would also help to cut down on un-needed bandwidth.
Idealy, it would be nice if the user could pick how many records they wanted per page in active topics with the default set at 40 or something. |

That wouldn't be too hard to do, maybe a text box/combo box to the right of the "view topics since" wouud be good |

A very good idea the result would be useful for people who read ALL topics and replies but not people who skim though the list for topics that interest them. |

Well, for those that just want to skim through active topics, the option to turn the paging off altogether (or set records per page to a ludicrously high figure) could be added.
