If anyone is interested in joining my forums, I have a motor racing tipping competition integrated (loosely) with the forums. Don't enter if you think you'll win the year though it's a tight competition, and comes down to the wire this weekend.
Gremlin, how can I forget ?? .. One of the our races of the year that's in our timezone and Ten decides to put it on the air immediately after Bathurst finishing - so while I'm beeing squeezed and pushed under the podium cheering for the guys spraying all the champers, it's the armchair racers that get to kick back and watch the GP. Oh well, you gotta go to Bathurst
Just prepping for the 24hr |

Ireland should get through to the QF's they've basically only got Argentina in their way (though never rule them out they can be unpredictably good on the day, I don't know what their forms been like this season though) Its safe to assume Aussie will pin Pool A I think though, I'd guess Ireland will hit France in the Quarters though and that might just be the end of their WC chances. |

You guys take care of the Kiwis in the semis and we'll make sure the English don't get to the final! We'd be quite happy* to finish second to you guys.**quote: Originally posted by Gremlin

Even if I wasn't Irish, I quite fancy our chances against France, it'll be a very close game, no doubt, but we've proven over the past year that we have what it takes.
By the way, apologies for my earlier post, Gremlin, got a bit discombobulated somewhere, thought you were quoting me when you were quoting Huw. Reading back over my post I didn't say anything about 24hr swims - although I could have sworn I did!
* The Irish definition of "quite happy" being a month of beer induced celebrations!
** Not a chance, I've read some of the things Australian commentators had to say about the IRB rankings, you guys are going down! lol!

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

You too huh, I swam compettitively for about 14 years back in my younger days.
Didn't get a lot of choice, my dad was the swimming coach so from the age of 4 to 16 swimming was my life, it is pretty much the only thing I regret giving up, but when I was 16, there were far more interesting things to do than swim |

Sounds incredibly similar to my earlier years, 4 to around 18-19 for me, Dad wasn't the coach but I think if they'd have let him he would have !! :) I regret it occasionally when I still see a few old friends knocking around Masters championships etc, but like you at that age there were much more interesting and exciting things happening in life and to be honest training upto 3 hours a day 6 days a week was starting to get pretty tiresome, it's a sport the requires a lot more dedication than most having both Summer and Winter competitions. |

Yes, it was the two hours training before school that got me in the end |

As an Irishman living in Australia for the last 20 years, I would be torn if it came down to an Ireland vs Australia final .... for only a few seconds! Go the Irish!!!!
Should be a very exciting series. Perth has gone crazy here too. People are stealing digital antennas from neighbours roofs as they are in short supply. Local electrical store owner told me they have sold 5 times more large screen plasma sets in the last month than they've sold in total in the last year. |
