I think it looks really good, you've done a really nice layout... BUT (there is always a but... ).
The top of your page has too much info preventing the visitor from easily finding exactly where the forum is at because it is almost "below the fold".

IMHO there is a flavour of being grabbed by DGM, before knowing what DGM really is. I would like to have a pic to show me before reading. But this may be very personally. Good luck |

Thanks for your comments dayve and yep and they are well taken. It's helpful to have a fresh pair of eyes to see the other angle. As we progress we will change little by little..........for the better......I hope:-) |

This is advice that I took from Kat about 9 months ago and it did make a difference to how popular my forum was....
It was to move the Forum News section to actuslly below the Forum itself - so that the actual forums and indication of when the last posts were etc - were more easily seen - without the user "having to" scroll down.
Personally, - I like the forum but I would make these slight changes :
1) Move News to below the Forum. You will not believe how much difference that made to the activity on my forum.
2)Maybe align the login area and the Category drop down to be on the same level - but one on the left and one on the right - to free up some more space vertically - in order to bring Forum higher up still.
3) Personally - a extremely minor point - but I would make the dotted background also for the table at the foot of the page (where it states "Desiring GOD Ministries Forum")- instead of the white background which makes the dotted effect discontinuous...
These are all minute points... and only IMHO.
I really like the feel of it though. Nice and fresh
best regards,

I agree with what Dayve and Brujo posted. Also, you seem to be missing spacer.gif and around checkboxes (for example the one for "save password") there's a grey background which really shouldn't be there IMO. |

just an extra class to create, it shouldn't be too much work to fix that.

On a 15" TFT monitor set to 1600x1200 resolution even I do need new glasses though |

ouch that rez on a tft has got to be rather off, whats the native resolution for your screen ?
Yeah another CSS class will fix it, it's more the finding and replacing all of them to update it especially when at the end of the day its imo something that should be able to handled with a simple intput.radio style declaration rather than having to add it to each tag manually.
I'll fix it up for George when I get a chance anyway :) |

1600x1200 is the native resolution... it's a Dell Inspiron 8000 notebook (a few years old now), aparently they don't make those kinds of high res TFT monitors anymore 'cause I haven't seen any for a long time. |
