Okay, I decided to move some equipment in my house today and surely enough, could not get things completely working the way I originally had them.
To start, I have a Wireless Access Point Router and a Firewall/VPN Router. My configuration used to look like this.
Modem to WAN on Router 1 Router 1 to Router 2 From Uplink Router 2 to PC's
Router 1 has IP Address of 192.168.1.1 Router 2 has IP Address of 192.168.1.2
Router 1 set to Working Mode: Gateway using RIP Router 2 set to Working Mode: Router
Router 2 has DHCP disabled
With the above configuration, my wireless router would route traffic to my wireless PCs and my firewall router would also route traffic properly peer-to-peer and access to internet.
NOW... well it doesn't seem to like that configuration anymore.
I had an online chat with a Linksys Rep and he basically repeated everything I have already done, except he said I don't need to mess with the Working Modes (which I disagree with). However, I tried it way and it did not work.
So... anyone out there with multiple routers for a home network configured together, please give me some insight on what I have done wrong. Also, should I venture into creating a static route from one router to the other? |
