Hello-
I love the Snitz forum, and I'd like to take on the new challenge of designing my own. I realize it would be a time-consuming process. Anyway...I was wondering, do the ASP-Dev forums require a copyright notice (like the POWERED BY: SNITZ) one? If not, how can I obtain a copy of this base code?

first, you would have to ask the creator of that forum software. second, if you are designing your own, then why do you ask anyway?

I'm looking to take a less-complex forum code (as in a stripped-Snitz forum...and since Snitz is based on ASP-Dev, I figured that's where I could look) And if Snitz is based on ASP-Dev, then I guess w/ ASP-Dev, you don't need to put a PoweredBy: notice on your pages, which is ultimately what I'm going for.

If you're going to start from scratch, you're better off starting with asp.net.

Given the Snitz quality and easy setup, I don't know if there's much of a market for a snitz look alike in the Classic ASP realm.

Oh I'm not going for this as a commercial project, I'm just doing it to get a better understanding of ASP w/ databasing, and to be able to say that I coded a site from scratch.

You need to check with the asp-dev owner about copyright and powered by links. No one at Snitz can answer for them. There is a v3.0 out now too.

Can I clear up something here :

If you're starting from scratch, then you are writing everything yourself, out of your own brain. So there is no need to download anything at all.

If you're starting from a base from someone else's code, and then branching out from there, THEN you have to ask permission and get the relevant approval before starting.

I realize that, I just wanted to look at a simpler forum, so it's less confusing to see exactly how they work. Mine would be a little bit easier b/c I don't care about having a really nice Admin panel like Snitz.
