Could somebody point me to specs detailing the various fiels in the database tables.

For example, what is the definition of M_STATUS in the FORUM_MEMBERS table?

Thanks,

Doug

Most of them (but not all) are largely self explanatory. There is no formal documentation available on all database fields I'm afraid so you'll just need to ask here when your unsure of something.

M_STATUS as far as I know is used to indicate whether a member is pending activation (0), deleted (0), or active (1)

Thank you, people. I will ask about others here that are not clear!

I notice that in the FORUM_TOPICS table there is a T_AUTHOR field specifying the topic author. But in the FORUM_FORUM table there is no F_AUTHOR. Does the concept of "forum author" not exist? Are they just owned by the system itself?

Thanks,

doug

In the FORUM_TOPICS table I would like to confirm the following:

(1) Is T_DATE the date the topic was created?

(2) Does the format 20030625101511 mean June 25, 2003 at 10:15 am (and 11 seconds)?

Thanks,

doug

1 - yes.
2 - yes, all dates and time strings are saved in the database in the format yyyymmddhhmmss.

In FORUM_REPLY there are the following fields:

"CAT_ID"
"FORUM_ID"
"TOPIC_ID"
"REPLY_ID"

The TOPIC_ID refers to the topic this reply is linked to. My question is, why are the CAT_ID and FORUM_ID indices needed in this table? The TOPIC_ID alone should be sufficient to locate the associated topic, shouldn't it?

yes, but having the others cuts down on complicated queries when looking to see if a reply is in a private forum or the like.
