I am using version 3.4.03 without any mods and have had it up and working for a few months. Just recently, when I create new forums or topics the SUBSCRIBE icon does not show up. I have tried setting both forum and topic subscriptions but it still does not work. Groups created in the past display the icon and work correctly. Any suggestions? To my nowledge no one has done any modifications.
If you create a new forum, you need to set its properties to support the correct subscription level. You also need to make sure the category they are created in also has the correct subscription level set. What level have you defined for the highest subscription level in Admin Options ->Feature Configuration?
This may go down as confused user error or just a strange mystery. The solution appears to have been just to change it to not allow then back... Voila!
