I am getting complaints from AOL members that they are getting:
502 Connection Failed
This Web page could not be opened. There may be too many people accessing this page or the page may be unavailable. Please try again later.
when they try to register.
They are able to access all areas of my site and the messageboard EXCEPT when they fill out the registration form and submit it.
The final URL is :
http://www.newenglandshad.com/messageboard/register.asp?mode=DoIt
I ran a tcp monitor and I see all requests coming into the site however when the user finally hits submit after filling out the registration form.... I never see the submition hitting the server and they get the error shown above.
Thanks for any help
Sean

The accounts never get registered.
Remember I never see any inbound traffic to the web server once they try and submit the page with the registration information on it.
They are not blocked from any other section of the site and can continue browsing the messageboard or site with out any other errors.

I'll second that! One problem I have had with AOL members is email verification. Aol has a strange email system and the links don't seem to work. |

The problem, I believe lies with the link length, which causes it to break. If that is the case, just tell the members to copy and paste the entire link into the address bar of their browser. |

Rui, the problem isn't with the validation, but with registering. According to the original topic, AOL members don't get to see the page that both saves the registration data and sends out the confirmation email.
Martin, have you tried Nikkol's suggestion to let one or more AOL members use a browser other than the one provided by AOL? That might actually solve the problem... If it does, you could include some text at the top of the registration page that informs AOL users of the problems they will (probably) encounter during registration. |

Ouch... I guess I didn't read the topic as I should... Sorry. Thx for pointing that out Roland. |
