I downloaded & installed the forum this morning.

Skimmed through the readme (like you do), make my configuration changes, then went to run the config.asp file.

Nothing I could do would stop the code from displaying in my browser.
Played with file types & my IIS settings (running Win2K AS, tried different browsers on different machines and couldn't fix it. Restarted IIS, read all 11 pages in this forum waiting for my username & password to login here .

Anyways, 4 hours pass and suddenly it works.
I have no idea why it would start all of a sudden, but it did.

Get it all up & running and start applying some mods.
Got mods for PMs, File Management & Avatars all up & running.

I've never used ASP before, and some of the code looks daunting.
I have a bunch of typical newbie questions that I can't find answers for... I wanted to change the front end slightly and all I managed to do was change the target when you click on the title image. I want to change some of the links: I thought I would find it in inc_header, but every change I made caused it to crap out on me.

I've been playing with this for 13 hours solid now and still can't solve some problems- when I log in with my XP machine, I can PM quite happily using whatever account... when we switch users to my wifes account, she can't send PM's... she has no smilies and has the dreaded yellow Problem with webpage warning exclamation thingy.
Doesn't show on mine, or on the other machines, just on her Windows account. Thing is it's worked 3 times, then failed out of the blue.

Anyways, I enjoyed myself 7 thought I'd share my tale-
I'm pleased as punch getting it as far as I have so far

what do you mean you "wanted to change the front end slightly" ... what exactly do you want to do? If it's how the page is laid out, you might want to check into the Site Integration Mod that I think is available at www.snitzbitz.com

the links at the top are placed there using the ForumNavigation subroutine located at the bottom of inc_header.asp. If you need more help with that, give some details on what you want to change and someone can help out.

Your wife's problem .. I'm assuming she's logging on to your same Windows XP machine. Is she logging onto the machine with a different profile? Can you log onto the forum using her forum username, but logged onto the machine with your profile and the forum works okay? If yes to both, then the problem is with her profile on the machine. If you mean that the problem occurs whenever she logs into the forum no matter what the machine, profile, etc., then we'll have to troubleshoot it further.

Hi Nikkol,

I had already checked out the Site Integrator mod.
I would appreciate some help with changing some of the links-
I had thought it was inc_header.asp but I'm slowly learning what the code is doing by trial & error (mostly error :D)

The wife's problem:
We normally share the same XP box and use fast user switching.
She can log on to the forum using my XP profile- the problem is indeed in her profile but can't find where the fault is.
Everything works fine till she tries to send a PM, then she loses all her graphics (just get the box with the red X), which is kinda strange.

Well, it worked this morning again.
None of the machines have been rebooted & it all of a sudden worked.

This may be the wrong place to post this, but anyone know where I can get the MOD that displays all your online users etc

Thanks ruirib

I actually found it at the same time you replied.

Of course I broke my forum again in a couple of pages, so I just ripped out the extra code for now... I'll work on it again soon.

Am learning as I go, but still haven't got the syntax down properly.
