Hi. I am using a Snitz forum on my site:
http://weapon-shaped.com/forum/

Every week or two, the forum just ups and dies. If you go to the forum's URL, you get an error message. I think that the message says something in reference to the database.

What I've been doing is contacting the company that hosts my web site and asking them to reboot my site when the forum crashes. When they do this, my forum works fine.

But I'd really like to keep these crashes from happening. The support guy at my web hosting company suggested that I post here and ask how to upgrade my forum or get advice from someone on what I should do.

Thanks very much!

Hi,

1. Upgrade to v3.4.03 (or wait a week or two for 3.4.04)

2. Use an OLEDB connection if your not already.

Is an error message like:
quote:
Microsoft Jet Database engine ODBC provider for OLEDB driver
Unspecified Error
inc_header.asp line 114
If so, then it's a host problem and they need to fix it. (Your message might be different on 3.3 and if you use an ODBC connaction...)

Posting the exact error you get would be helpful.

ok, so we upgraded to the new version of the forum, per your suggestion, and it worked ok for about 12 hours and then crashed again:
http://weapon-shaped.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=5

the message reads:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0xe7c Thread 0x868 DBC 0x341c494 Jet'.

Just change the connection string to an OLEDB one and the problem will go away.
