I think I may have found a "feature" that you may or may not want.
I installed everything in my dev forums without a hitch. I successfully created two usergroups (one for new members named "Default" and the other for private members named "Private"). Everything's cool so far...
So Joe comes along and registers on my forums. He gets put into "Default" just fine. I then add Joe to "Private" (he now exists in "Default" AND "Private". He logs onto the site and can ONLY see what "Default" should see... nothing from "Private" like he SHOULD be able to. As soon as I remove him from "Default" (so he only exists in "Private") he can see everything that he should be able to... "Default" and "Private".
Have I confussed you? Did I explain that well enough?
You explained it fine. I'll check it out and see if I can duplicate that. I hadn't seen that behaviour myself. What were the settings for each of the groups?
Gandiel, I cannot recreate what is happening to you. Can you please tell me the properties of the Private and Default groups, including the permissions you gave each of those on the forums? Remember Deny permissions will override any other permissions.
Wow, good job, Nikkol, looks like it was a lot of work.
I just installed the beta, works like a charm!

I wasn't able to recreate it as well. Tried a lot of combinations, but no effect.
You might want to change the link to checklist.htm (great idea btw) in the readme file. Same goes for the images, seems like you had them in a readme_pics folder (which isn't created on unzipping).

It isn't ... hmmm. I thought I tested that. I'll change it now in the zip.
The readme_pics folder is created for me. I uploaded the zips again just to be sure. Did you have the option checked to create folders when you unzipped?
Default User Group is set to "Do Not Set" on the public forums and "Deny" on the private forums. Private User Group is set to "Do Not Set" on the public forums and "Allow" on the private forums.
So if Joe exists in both groups, the DENY is taking precidence over his ALLOW?
If you'd like, I can set you up an admin account on my dev site for your perusal.
So "Do Not Set" is a sort of pass-through for permissions?
Joe's default user group gets passed-through and checks his private group before making a determination on whether to show the forum or not.... correct?
Deny takes precidence over Allow. Do Not Set means that the forums will operate the same as if the MOD was not installed.
If the Private Forum is set to Allowed Member List, then Joe will not be able to access it if he isn't a part of that list or a member of a group that is assigned to that forum.
Think of Deny permissions as those to be used in extreme cases when you need to punish or ban someone from a forum or two.
