Update. I believe I have added both Denied and Read-Only permissions for the UserGroups. However, I've been staring at this so long, I can't be sure if it's working right! So, please visit the site and test it out. See if it works as you would expect it to. Let me know if there are any oddities.
Note: I need to update the forum property form to reflect Denied and Read-Only Permissions. If you try to edit forum properties, it won't work right, so assign permissions from the UserGroup page.
Test Site Details URL: http://www.nikkol.net/ugtest/ Admin username/password: Admin/ugtest Other users/passwords: test/test, badboy/badboy, goodboy/goodboy Restrict registration, email validation, and unique email are all turned OFF, so feel free to register new members for your own testing.
User Details All three users are in the Default User Group which is assigned Allow permissions to the Allowed Member List (Hidden) Forum and the Allowed Member List & Password Protected Forum. The user badboy is in the User Probation group which is assigned Denied permission to all forums in the UserGroup Master Test Category except the All Visitor Forum which has Read-Only permissions.
Permissions Permissions are checked in this order Deny, Read-Only, Allow. So even if a user is in a group that has Allow permissions to a forum, if they are in another group that has Deny or Read-Only permissions, the latter group's permissions prevail. |

I also got a similar option for the Test Forum For Everyone.
Other than those things, it works really good! |

Etymon, I'm updating post.asp as we speak so you probably saw the changes I made and didn't look back at the other forums.
Dave, I think the site belched for a bit, but it should be there now. |

Just a note ... if the forum is not an "Allowed Member List" forum, then the Allow permissions will not appear in the drop down because that would be redundant. |

OK I think I found a bug....
When Trying to reply to the Read-Only topic (logged in as badboy) Where it should have gone to post.asp (If I wasn't a badboy) It said (you have read only access on this forum. (<-- That's not the bug) It then reverted me to default.asp. IMO It should be that It reverts you back to the topic, not default.asp.
Or is that how you want it? |

Yeah, I noticed that too Dave. I'm trying to reuse code as much as possible and I'm using a function Go_Result in post.asp to alert of the Read-Only status. That function redirects to default. I have on my list to find a way to fix that, but it's low on my list of To-Dos. |

I did a quick test. It looks great! Read-only permissions are neat, and I like the way deny permissions work for all forums, even non-private. One thing: even when logged in as a normal user, I see the usergroup permissions on post.asp. I can't make changes to the permissions, but do you want the permissions drop-down to even show up for a normal user? Thanks again for a great MOD. I'll test more tomorrow. Thanks! |
