So the good news is that the redirect works too ;-)

The slightly negative point is that while
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/pda.asp?TOPIC_ID=2207 uses about 10k
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/pda_qr.asp?TOPIC_ID=2207 uses about 35k
(http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2207 the standard version about 70k)

25k might not seem like a lot, but it's not negligable via GPRS...I'm a bit surprised that the simple addition of the Quick Reply would add 25k, is that normal or am I doing something wrong?

I guess the easy way out would be to browse first via pda.asp and only use pda_qr.asp to post a reply when it's needed by adding a _qr to the url although it's clearly a bit kludgy ;-)

Quick Reply takes about 4k AFAIK

well that's as far as I've been. I'm able to post using the custom qr
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/pda_qr.asp?TOPIC_ID=2366
It does use more bandwidth than I'd like though...not sure where the previous poster got the "4K for QR" from ;-)

Mobile version 3.3 lets you browse too - http://www.gpspassion.com/pdaforums/ but posts are blank...

Hi gpspassion,

sorry I haven't been any help, but had a few personal things to deal with and have been very busy on the hsoting front.

tou could try using the text link instaed of the powered by image, this will remove 3K from the page size. You could also try removing your style sheet info, since html3.2 (used by pocket ie) does not support stylesheets, you could also remove all the indented formatting, that will remove some of the whitespace sent to the browser. other than that, size depends entirely on how many and how big the replies are, there is very little extra code sent to the browser with that page.

have you documented any of this? What did you place in your code to redirect?

Maybe try emailing him. Looks like he is willing to share what he did, evaluating from the links he posted for some of the files.

Hi All! I just got a new Treo 600 a couple weeks ago and was trying to surf my forum with it... Over all, it wasn't a very bad experience except for the site integration that allows me to bloat the site with big graphics and other stuff...

Anyway, I wanted to be able to use the forum from my phone and thought that I could just make a different folder on my site... called /fastforum or something, copy all the snitz forum files into it, configure it to use the same DB as my main forum, /forum, and boom... it seems to work ok. Granted it is faster than my main forum, it is still not optomized for use on my palm.

Can anyone think of any caviates to doing this? I would like to be able to offer my forum (and a few others that I've done) to mobile users... all of these forums so far are running the latest snitz code and one of them is running speedball2... it'd be great if this would work.

Thanks for all your work... I really feel like a parasite here since I'm not much of a programmer and thus can't contribute too much, mostly just ideas and pesky questions.

I would also like to know if Chriz could share his mobile edition code with us? I/We would greatly appreciate it if he could.

Thanks in advance!
