Ok... I have a dilema... I have two sites that are different languages... PHP and ASP, the only reason for the ASP one is so we can use the Forums ...

Now, my problem is with the encryption of the PW's in the database... the forums use SHA-256 and we have been unable to find any way to get PHP to properly work with the standard for SHA-256... MD5 and SHA-1 have algarythm's for PHP, but not the other.

We've tried taking some C based SHA-256 functions and converting them to work in a PHP file... we've gotten a long way, but can't get it to work for our best efforts...

PHP has signed integers... and SHA-256 needs un-signed integers... We're realy confused.

Basicaly we want to be able to authenticate users on the PHP side just like we do on the ASP side... but the function doesn't work...

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

oh... would a mod to the forum be better to MD5 rather than a PHP sub mod to get a working SHA-256 algarythm?

Theres no reason why you couldnt use SHA-1 for Snitz, 256 is little excessive

Could you do it in Javascript on the php side of things ?

Some sample ASP and Javascripting for a few Message Digesting algs.
