Are you really using an Access 2000 DB? Your first version was Snitz 3.4.x? Are you also using a Jet OLEDB connections string?
As I wrote, this maybe not be due to your site, but if the server is under a heavy load, it may also happen. |

Thanks Ruirib!
I just called my server administrator and I believe that it was a share violation issue on the server. I believe that it may have resolved the issue. I'm still monitoring the situation, and hopefully that will solve the problem.

I'm getting the same problem.
quote:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Unspecified error
/vimes/foruns/inc_header.asp, line 114
I had my forum working fine and today I tried to access it and that showed up, I didn't change anything in the time between this. I'm using an Access 2000 DB, a Jet OLEDB connections string, and the forum is v3.4.03. I contacted my host, www.web.1asphost.com , about this and they haven't answered so far. Following this thread, I assume that it's my host's server that's causing the problem. Can I do anything to correct this? I would like to fix this within my current host. Should I change to another host? If so do you know one that's free, and supports my forum as it is? I've been at Free ASP Hosts, but I would be very thankfull if you saved me the trouble of checking all the hosts listed there .

I don't think anyone can give you a positive answer to that, except maybe some other users of the same host. Free servers are not that free of problems as you'd expect. So, in short, it's not possible to know how often this will happen, you'll have to find that for yourself. If this keeps happening, probably getting a paid host may be the option. You can find good hosting options for as little as 5€ a month, so maybe that can be considered as an option. |

It's a pretty good rule of thumb when trying to diagnose a problem that if an error occurs randomly, and can't be consistently recreated, that it has something to do with the server rather than the code itself, code problems will always produce the same result/error time after time given the same set of data/circumstances.
There may be one or two exceptions but its a good rule of thumb imo. |
