I would agree with most of what OneWayMule says.
- I do like the star background. Fits with the blue background well.
- There isn't enough contrast to make the site stand out. Red and blue doesn't go well together in web colors. Add more white and use the red for impact.
- I would make the more interesting font the link for the forums instead of the red (or at least get rid of one or the other. You don't need both).
- You've got a couple different font sizes and it pulls your eyes away from the more important data (like on the forum screen, the date font size is bigger than the topic)
- Too many categories. Try to find some more general characteristics of the forums to try and group them together
- If you're not going to have moderators, turn off the column so you don't have a huge empty space taken up
- Definitely need a way to turn the $&%^#(* music off. Definitely didn't go with what was in my CD player at the time....AAAAGH!!!!

I like the eagle, and there was no music when I went so I like that too no theres the music starting now
The only thing that really bugs me is the scrollbar, on the forum pages it can be very hard to find as it blends completely into the background. |

Thank you for pointing that out! ALL THIS TIME, I thought it just showed to me as admin! I usually just use the ACTIVE TOPICS link I put in on every page and evidently just never logged out lately and looked!
As for the rest... "Barbershop Harmony Freak" er....

I think it's a great forum.... very patriotic..red white n blue..great stories..and if you don't like the colors there are 12 other themes you can choose from....I like the music...and it only plays when your on the main forum page... once on the inside you cannot hear it... |

Why do you insist on keeping the music if many people suggest you remove it? If you're building your site for users and the users don't like the music, I think it makes sense to cater to the opinions of the users. |

Well Bookie, it's like this... #1 We like it #2 It's our forum
I'm sure there are things on your forum that I would like redone or removed if I looked...
Our music and forum ITSELF changes dynamically all the time.
Sorry you don't like it.
I was hoping someone would notice the changes we've made and the coding that was needed, but it seems no one sees it or can get past the colors, the message, or the midi's. |

I get javascript error when entering the forum, and sorry to say, this forum really doesn´t look good. Too much going on, too many different colors, design is "boxy", fontsize too big, background makes it harder to read...and so on...reminds me of early webdesigns back in 1995 or so. |

LOL --> quite a lot of these critiscisms have been backed by lots of the members of the forums, so what is the point of asking for opinions of what to change, and then ignoring whatever they suggest on the grounds that you like it. I don't really see the point.
I like the concept of your site , and the stars and blue background are good. Its just that the red and dark text contrasted with white for other parts of the text makes quite a lot of the forum very hard on the eyes and for me anyway, difficult to read in places.
Hope these comments help -Altis Design |
