IS there a mod or a way to display an active useres count outside of the forum. eg, if forum root is /site/forum, is there a way to diplay the number of active users on pages in /site/.
Thanks in Advance Aaron |

I haven't seen a mod for it, but it is possible to do it as Im doing it on my site. Im not releasing my code as a mod, as it is too customized for my site.
If you want to do it yourself, you need to use the code in inc_header.asp in all your pages, as AU relies on the forum code to work. You also need to modify the AU function WhatPage to include all your website pages, if you want to give them specific names in active_users.asp (you need to add new lang-variables as well).
This requires moderate knowledge of coding, though, and you need to change the forum-cookie to website. There are other changes to be made as well, but I don't remember which ones at the moment. |

I am not looking to count users thru the whole site. Just display AU on forum out side the forum root. So what your saying is to include the inc_header.asp and then format the AU to what I want it to look like?
Thank You |

Just did it. Took four hours to do it. I tried to clean the code up as much as I can and get rid of the stuff that was not relavite to the AU mod. Still looks to be 439 lines of code. If anyone wants the code to look at or wants to help me clean it up, email me at acuster@webmastersonlineinc.com

You mean that you only want to show the total of online users (members and guests), or do you want to show online members with their member names and the total number of guests? If it is the former, then here is an easier way. If it is the latter, then you have to use some of inc_header.asp as I mentioned above (and you also need to close myConn after you have displayed AU).
Unfortunately I don't have time to help you with the code at this time, as Im double-working at the moment. |
