I recall it as being a nice, fast loading media player, now the latest ver takes absolutely ages to load up (default skin et al).

Anyone else noticed that?

stay away from v3, it's still a beta anyway (should still be an alpha in my opinion). I use v2.81 and have no problems with it at all.

v2.9 beta can be found here:

Winamp Full 2.9 Beta 2
Winamp Standard 2.9 Beta 2
Winamp Lite 2.9 Beta 2

though I am sticking with 2.81 since I have no use for winamp playing video.

I like the new version...don't seem to have many problems with it. It has nice search features.

Thanks for the info Richard, whilst i was cussing the installation i had with someone on online chat, they showed me to:

http://oldversion.com/

Which has solved a nice problem with Acrobloat Reader as well, although i switched back to winamp lite (and removed the DRM that seems to have appeared courtesy of latest winamp?)

Thanks a lot for the links, I too don't use winamp for video, so the low fat version is really useful :)

Yeah, my v3 works okay, although I did see an article recently on cnet about how it wasn't very fast.

God I hate v3...is it really too much to ask for it to remember where in my playlist I was when I close it? Like in v2. I mean if I got a list of 200+ songs that I go through it's annoying having to remember where I left of so I don't keep hearing the same first few songs over and over.

I enjoy v3 also. It was a bit slow using it on my win 98, 350 mhz computer. But with my new 2.4 ghz, win xp computer, it opens up and works pretty fast for me. No problems at all.
