With the new logos, it became apparent that the 2000 just didn't fit as well as it did with the old logo. So we have been discussing whether we should drop "2000" from the name of the Forum, and have just "Snitz Forums".

With the addition of the yellow ribbon to the logo, we removed the 2000 to make room for it. When 4.0 is released, should we just call the forums "Snitz Forums" and drop the 2000 altogether?

Here is your chance to vote for or against the change.

I think it would be a great idea as the "2000" makes the forums seem dated.

I vote for adding something like "global" (I hate this word but anyway), "international" (better but very long), "world ready" (or whatever) to indicate the nature of v4.

Yeah, drop it ! New users will think that the forum is old with the 2000 attached to the name.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

As Snitz grows and becomes more popular, I think it's no longer necessary to attach the number to it. The number is catchy, but again, not necessary for established brands.

Didn't Gateway computers used to be Gateway 2000?

I say drop the 2000. We all know Snitz will be around for quite a while, and since it is way past 2000 I personally think it needs to go... Other wise it may as well be another Microsoft product (God for bid)...

I'm in two minds, maybe if the '2000' is dropped, and people come to see Snitz / download for the first time they will be confused as to which is latest version?

What about off site links on source code boards referencing Snitz forums 2000, I know some of the spin off projects (Huwrs, Crash, Serverhacker) will say snitz 2000, so won't this contribute an extra level of confusion?

On the other hand, if the new logo does not say 2000 either, and everyone should be using the latest version anyway, then it's a moot point i guess.

A lot of products both 'real' things and software gain a lot from an established name, but I suppose in conversation one would refer to the software as 'Snitz' anyhow, so my vote is YES.

When referring people to Snitz, I just call it Snitz Forums. If 2000 is truly a trademark, why not leave it in the alt tag but not show it in the graphic?

This way everyone can be on the same page.

Cheers,

Drop the 2000! Too many people see that and think of it as a version rather than a name.
